Public engagement is foundational to a comprehensive Park Needs Assessment!

Phase 3 Community Engagement

The third phase of community engagement is focused on presenting the Draft Park Needs Assessment, sharing key findings from earlier phases, and answering your questions about how to get involved in shaping the remainder of the process. Your input is vital in helping guide the final Park Needs Assessment and the future of LA’s parks.

Engagement Goals

Educate the public about the role RAP plays within the City of Los Angeles.

Solicit input from a diverse audience from a diverse cross-section of the City, including individuals who may not be able to attend meetings.

Provide opportunities for communities across the City to provide feedback on the PNA process, including progress updates on the TAC, Steering Committee, and RAP components of the Draft’s development.

Include hybrid options that allow for a variety of methods based on any prevailing health restrictions, community preference, or other unforeseen requirements.

Neighborhood Council Reports

City of LA Neighborhood Councils are an important part of this project because they have a great sense of Park Needs in their neighborhoods!

We requested a short report from each of the 99 Neighborhood Councils that includes their priorities. Councils were able to choose to submit a report, which was requested no later than June 2, 2025. Each Neighborhood Council received an email request.

We presented to the LA Neighborhood Council Coalition at the April 4, 2025, standing meeting.

Phase 2 Community Engagement

Engagement during the second phase of the PNA was focused on sharing key findings and gathering input from residents on park priorities, access, and opportunities for investment. These meetings aimed to build on the foundation of Phase 1 by engaging community members in a deeper dialogue about local park needs, with a focus on equity, access, funding and future improvements. See below for the meetings we did in Phase 2.

Community Meetings

Each meeting included a 20 minute presentation by the Project Team followed by an open house where attendees were invited to provide feedback or ask questions. There was a youth activity table as well as informational and interactive boards. Materials were available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, and Armenian. Community members were welcome to stop by any time within the 2 hour window!
